Most stoves of the time period were little more than a simple box, and were little changed from the stoves used in the last century. Art had the idea to incorporate a combination baffle system and heating chamber that would extract the maximum amount of heat from the wood, heat that would being wasted up the chimney on other stoves.

In 1975, Bob England started making stoves (literally) in his own backyard. Soon he had enough business to keep his sons busy, then his family, and today England's has grown into a multi-faceted enterprise that keeps salesmen, office staff, metal working craftsmen and even a fleet of truck drivers on its payroll.

With over 40 stove models, several patents, and continuous operation for over twenty five years, Harman is an undisputed leader of stove manufacturing. Harman manufactures wood, coal, pellet, gas stoves, gas fireplaces, boilers, stokers, furnaces, and the Harman Iron line of cast iron stoves.

Family owned since 1995, my father, Charlie Grochowski’s reputation was one of integrity and a solid commitment to excellence. A family tradition that continues today with Alaska Company.

Kuma Stoves was founded in 1981 when Mark Freeman, now president of the company, built the first Kuma Stove on the tailgate of his chevrolet pick up truck. To this day, Kuma Stoves continues to be primarily a family operation. The first several Kuma Stoves were custom built for family members, but the demand soon grew into a full time job.
